Hints and planning

Thank you for allowing Studio One to create your portrait. No effort will be spared
to create the finest portraiture available and with your help, your portrait will be
an heirloom that you will be proud of for many years to come.
Careful planning is necessary to prepare for your photography session. Although
you are not required to have a consultation with the photographer, it is highly
recommended. A few helpful hints are listed below for your consideration, and
do no hesitate to discuss any concerns or ideas you may have with the photographer
prior to your session.
Men: Wear clothing that represents the most of your personality.
Avoid coats and ties for casual portraiture. Plain sweaters are generally very suitable
for informal set up. For a more formal portrait, coat and tie are fine. Do not forget
to shave before sitting.
Women: Bring a couple of outfits if in doubt. Wear long sleeves and
avoid dresses or tops with shoulder pads. Avoid multicolored, bright outfits and
wear comfortable clothing that will best reflects your personality.
Group (2 or more): Blend outfits with all members of the group, and
bring a couple of changes if in doubt. Again, consider the above-mentioned
information for men and women.
Children: Bring a toy and familiar “treasures” for a young child. Do
not instruct children to smile nor to do what the photographer will say. Just let them
know how fun it is going to be and how exciting it is to have a portrait done. The
photographer will handle the rest.
Make-up: Eye shadow and mascara are very important in order to highlight
the eyes. Do not overdo the rest of your make-up, and bring it with you.
Glasses: If you wear glasses, it would be best to have the lens removed to
avoid distortion. If this is inconvenient, we will do our best to avoid glare in the lens.
